💥 Grammar B2-11: Result clauses
One fact, two shapes: the film was so long that I fell asleep, and it was such a long film that I fell asleep. Both are correct, and the choice between them is pure machinery — what stands between so or such and that. A bare adjective or adverb takes so; a plain noun takes such, with its article riding inside it; and the four counting words much, many, little and few drag so back in front of the noun they measure. This material builds that machine question step by step, drills the article slot that disappears before uncountable nouns and plurals, converts result clauses into the compact too and enough patterns in both directions, and shows the front-shifted so loud was the noise that once, as recognition only. Thirty-seven multiple-choice items, a ten-chip sorter, six reveal cards and six corrections are built around a storm-hit cup final and an unforgiving film review.
