📖 Lesson B1 Grammar📐 Grammar

⌛ Grammar B1-2: Present perfect with just / already / yet

The second material of the Fleydo B1 grammar series. It treats just, already and yet as reporters of expectation riding inside the present perfect: just says the news is a moment old, already says the tick came sooner than anyone planned, and yet says the box is still open — still expected, still not done. The teaching hangs on two seats: just and already sit between have and the participle, while yet insists on the last word of the sentence and only lives in negatives and questions. A four-step decision procedure — build the perfect, then ask fresh, early, or still missing — is walked through three worked examples that place the word step by step, including the surprised question Have you already eaten?, and six reveal cards make the learner place the word before checking. The compare-and-verdict pair puts I’ve already finished the poster against I haven’t finished the poster yet, the same fact seen from two sides of expectation, and a note separates neutral questions with yet from surprised questions with already. Practice is spread over four sets of eight, seven, eight and eight items, every one explaining its answer, plus ten situations to sort by expectation, six real learner errors to repair — the past-simple leak among them — and three traps, led by yet drifting into the middle or into positive sentences. A 120-word talent-show story with nine tappable phrases shows all three words choosing their seats in connected writing. Teacher notes give a 45-minute sequence, the three-box board move, the two-seat rescue drill and the Cambridge B1 Preliminary relevance.
