👨‍👩‍👧 Little Stars 13: Mummy and Daddy

A complete 45-minute teacher-led lesson that opens the My Family unit of the Little Stars Compact 36 journey. Because families look different in every classroom, everything is framed as “your special people”: the pictures belong to the puppet Pip, no child is ever asked who lives at home, and grandma, auntie, uncle or carer are welcomed and given their English word. After the fixed Hello Routine, three big picture frames open one at a time and the whole class echoes the chunk “This is my mummy.” A four-line Finger Family song puts one person on each finger and runs in a slow and a faster round. Then Pip calls “Run to Mummy!” and everybody dashes to the matching picture corner and points. A doll role-play carries hugs across the circle — give the baby to mummy, the teddy to daddy — and a colouring screen lets every child colour the people who live with them, however many that is. Recognition always comes before production: pointing, running and hugging all count as correct answers. Nothing is read and nothing is written. A closing teacher screen carries the minute-by-minute plan, the materials list, support and challenge notes, the 30-minute adaptation and the home connection.
