📖 Lesson B2 Speaking🎓 Education

🎙️ Horizon: The Baseline Talk

The expedition takes its first real measurement. Learners study the public range rubric, learn the two-minute talk architecture — hook, signposted body, landing — and rehearse in pods before delivering their baseline talks with one unscripted follow-up question. The scored rubrics go into a sealed envelope until lesson seventy, and everyone logs two specific, dated, measurable targets in their field notes using contrast language and the aim-to formula.

  • Signposting a talk: Let me start with…, Which brings me to…, To wrap up… mark the moves for the listener
  • Contrast with whereas joining two full clauses: My fluency was solid, whereas my lexis stayed basic
  • Target formula: I aim to + verb phrase + by + date, measured by + noun
  • Hedged self-assessment: on the whole, tends to and seems to soften claims about your own performance
