📖 Lesson B2 Grammar📐 Grammar

🎾 Horizon: Who, Which, Where

First input lesson of the relative-clauses expedition. Learners build defining relative clauses with who, which, that, where and whose, choose the right connector by noun type, and learn when the pronoun can vanish (object) and when it must stay (subject). A rainy-day story turns the studio into a Definition Tennis court, where vague serves lose points and the perfect whose-clause wins a championship — modelling the B2 survival skill of defining any word you do not know yet.

auto_fix_high Grammar Points

  • Defining relative clauses take no commas — the information identifies the noun
  • Connector choice: who = people, which = things/animals, where = places (= in which), whose = possession, that = informal who/which in defining clauses only
  • The relative pronoun can be dropped only when it is the object of its clause: the film (which) we watched; never when it is the subject: the girl who plays drums
  • Never repeat the object after the pronoun: the app which everyone uses, not the app which everyone uses it
