💃 Little Stars 32: Dance, Swim, Fly
A complete 45-minute teacher-led lesson that turns the whole classroom into a playground for eight action words. After the fixed Hello Routine with the puppet Pip, four new actions arrive through imagination rather than explanation: the carpet becomes an ocean the children swim across, the window becomes a sky they fly to, and sleep brings the room back down. A giant soft dice is then rolled along the floor and whatever face comes up, everybody does it — dance, swim, fly, sleep, run, jump, hop or clap — and shouts the chunk together. A four-line freeze dance runs to real music: while it plays the class moves, the moment it stops everybody is a statue, and nobody is ever out. Pip then asks “Can you jump?” eight times; the question stays with the puppet and the children answer with their bodies first and the three words “I can jump!” second. The lesson lands softly with a favourite-action circle in which each child performs and names their own action unprompted, followed by a sleepy stretch and three slow breaths. Nothing is read and nothing is written. A closing teacher screen carries the minute-by-minute plan, the materials list, support and challenge notes, the 30-minute adaptation and the home connection.
