🏠 This Is Mine, That Is Yours

In Lesson 6 of the Fleydo A1 Adults grammar series, students master the four English demonstratives — this, that, these and those — through a warm, natural home-tour scenario. The lesson opens with a visual 2x2 grid showing how each word is chosen by two features: distance (near or far) and number (one or many). The dialogue follows Anna giving Marco and Yuki a tour of her new London flat, using all four demonstratives dozens of times in context (sofa, cushions, photos, phone, keys, books, lamp). A 20-item vocabulary table introduces home-related words with English, Turkish and example sentences. Three grammar boxes then teach the concepts step by step: Box A presents the core 2x2 grid with clear meaning notes and memory tricks; Box B shows sentence patterns with the verb to be (This/That + IS, These/Those + ARE) and warns about the most common mistake; Box C teaches Yes/No questions and short answers, including how this/that become it and these/those become they in answers. Practice includes a 10-question interactive game with distance/number hints, a 6-question multiple-choice quiz, 8 fill-in-the-blank diary sentences from moving day, a speaking task where learners describe their own room, and a writing task with five sentences using all four demonstratives.
