🐘 Little Stars 18: The Little Zoo

The Animal Friends checkpoint of the Little Stars Compact 36 journey, and the lesson where the very first chunk of the course comes back in a brand-new costume. After the Hello routine with the puppet Pip and two rounds of the animal walk song, the masks from lesson 17 come out for five minutes of finishing touches — a mane, two big ears, a trunk. Then Pip rehearses the checkpoint question with the whole class: “Who are you?” — “I’m a lion, ROAR!”, chorally first and only then with volunteers, so the shy children are rescued in the rehearsal and never in the show. THE LITTLE ZOO follows: half the class stand in the zoo corners with their masks on while the other half walk round, greet them and ask the question, and then the halves swap so that every single child performs. A zoo keeper freeze game and the fixed Goodbye Song close the lesson, and the masks travel home in the bags. The teacher plan carries the checkpoint list with three tick levels per child and the key observation of the unit: which children transfer the “I’m a …!” chunk from their lesson 1 self-introduction into this new animal context without being reminded. Oral only — nothing is read or written at Pre-A1.
