🦁 Little Stars 17: Farm and Zoo

A complete 45-minute teacher-led lesson that turns the Animal Friends unit into pure play. After the fixed Hello Routine, a four-line Old MacDonald mini-song brings the duck, the cow and the horse onto the farm with flapping, stamping and galloping, and runs three times — slow, faster, then a whisper round. Three bushes then open one at a time to reveal the zoo: lion, monkey and elephant, each modelled with a big movement before the word, and the whole class echoes the chunk “It’s a lion!” Pip calls one animal at a time for the animal parade, and small groups cross a taped bridge line walking like it and making its sound, so that all eight animals — the six new ones plus cat and dog from the previous lesson — are heard and moved. The loudest part is the wrong-puppet zoo: Pip points at the elephant and calls it a cat, and the children have to shout the true name back. The lesson ends with each child choosing and colouring one animal mask, which the teacher keeps for the Little Zoo show in Lesson 18. Recognition always comes before production: walking, pointing and roaring all count as correct answers, nobody is ever out, and nothing is read and nothing is written.
