📖 Grammar A1-26: Past simple

One of the biggest topics of the level, so it is given more practice than usual. The material teaches the past simple in three moves. First the -ed spelling groups, shown as four little cards the learner can point at: play → played, like → liked, stop → stopped, cry → cried. Then eight high-frequency verbs that refuse -ed and make their own past word — go → went, have → had, see → saw, eat → ate, come → came, make → made, get → got, take → took — drilled as tap-and-hear pairs and sorted against regular verbs in a two-bin task. Finally didn’t and Did, where learners meet the single most common error of the level: the verb goes back to its plain form, so it is “I didn’t go”, never “I didn’t went”, and “Did you go?”, never “Did you went?”. Practice runs across four multiple-choice sets, a tap-to-explain story, a sorter and seven repair items, and every single answer explains itself in words simpler than the grammar being taught. Teacher notes give a two-lesson sequence, the two-column board move, the thirty-second pair-chant for the irregulars and the finger trick for a stuck learner.
