🧦 Little Stars 26: Socks and Colours

A complete 45-minute teacher-led lesson and the play half of the My Clothes unit in the Little Stars Compact 36 journey. Its whole purpose is one growth marker: the two-word combination — a colour word plus a clothes word. After the fixed Hello Routine with the puppet Pip, a silly washing line is the engine of the lesson: one sock of each pair hangs on the rope, its twin waits in the basket, and every match the class makes is celebrated with the two words called out together — “Red socks!”, “Blue socks!”, “Green socks!” The Get-Dressed Song returns in its full version with a colour in front of every garment and is sung three times, slow, faster and whispered, with big mimes from head to toe. Then four corners of the room become fashion corners: Pip calls two words and everybody runs and shouts them back, walking in slow motion for the first rounds so nobody is ever left behind. The ten-minute heart of the lesson is real dress-up play from a box of adult-sized clothes worn over their own, with the teacher narrating in English and photographing each model, who says the two words before the picture. A tidy-sort into one basket by type closes the language work, and three calm breaths, a sticker and the Goodbye Song close the lesson. Recognition always comes first: pointing, running and miming are correct answers, one word alone is still a success, and nothing is read and nothing is written. The teacher screen carries the minute-by-minute plan, the materials list, a checkpoint card naming exactly what to listen for, support and challenge notes, the 30-minute adaptation and the home connection.
