🧸 Little Stars 19: The Toy Box

A complete 45-minute teacher-led lesson that opens the My Toys unit of the Little Stars Compact 36 journey. After the fixed Hello Routine with the puppet Pip, a magic toy box is passed round the circle: children feel inside, guess, and only then is each toy revealed and echoed with the chunk “It’s a ball.” A four-line Toy Song puts one real toy in every pair of arms and runs three times — slow, faster, then a whisper round with the teddy rocked to sleep. Pip then calls the toys for a total-physical-response game in which every child rolls, drives, rocks or hugs before the words come, and a hide-and-seek under three boxes ends with the whole class shouting “Teddy!” and hugging it with “My teddy!”. Seven minutes of guided free play at three toy stations let the teacher narrate everything in English. The lesson closes by introducing the Tidy-up Song, which from this lesson on becomes a permanent classroom ritual: every toy goes back in the box, station by station, before the calm-down breathing and the Goodbye Song. Recognition always comes before production — pointing, rolling, hugging and tidying all count as correct answers. Nothing is read and nothing is written. A closing teacher screen carries the minute-by-minute plan, the materials list, support and challenge notes, the 30-minute adaptation and the home connection.
