🕵️ Horizon: Reading — The Master Short Story
Coach Deniz hands out a single page: The Lantern, a story she calls a machine with no spare parts. The crew reads it first with no pencil, for pleasure, then annotates on the second pass: past continuous freezing the background, one past-perfect line carrying the whole backstory, sentences shrinking toward the peak, and a table laid for two that is foreshadowing disguised as furniture. Learners build a professional theft list — technique named, evidence quoted, destination booked — and finish by writing their own three steals in connected prose.
