📖 Lesson B2 Speaking🎓 Education

🔊 Horizon: Voice, Pace, Presence

Delivery day in the Horizon studio. The crew’s symposium scripts are locked in a drawer and the camera comes out: before-and-after clips expose each speaker’s weakest dial — Sam’s racing pace, Marco’s fading volume, Aylin’s monotone, Priya’s swaying stance. Learners train volume contrast, strategic pauses, eye sweeps and a stable stance, and meet the grammar of spoken emphasis: emphatic do/does/did, it-clefts and wh-clefts, and contrastive stress. They also learn to read punctuation aloud, then write a personal delivery card — with one dramatic pause marked [PAUSE] — for the dress-run.

auto_fix_high Grammar Points

  • Emphatic do / does / did is followed by the base verb: We did practise the ending (never did practised)
  • It-clefts spotlight one element: It was the pause that convinced the panel, not the slide
  • Wh-clefts front the message: What kills a talk is not a small mistake — it is a mumble
  • Contrastive stress changes meaning without changing words: I said the RED chart, not the blue one
