🧱 Horizon: Argument Anatomy

Module six of the Horizon Expedition begins with an autopsy: Coach Deniz opens arguments up to show what holds them together. Learners separate opinions from arguments, assemble claim–reason–evidence (CRE) skeletons with the right signal language, hunt for relevant evidence, learn the grammar of because and therefore, and rate argument strength — the foundation for the first formal debate and the Half-Way Forum.

auto_fix_high Grammar Points

  • Argument structure: a claim + a reason + evidence, each with its own signal language (I believe that… / because… / according to…)
  • because is a subordinating conjunction that joins the reason to the claim inside one sentence; a because-clause alone is a fragment
  • therefore is a linking adverb: it starts a new sentence (or follows a semicolon) and takes a comma after it, pointing forward to the conclusion
  • Evidence language: according to + source, for example + instance, and statistics (facts expressed as numbers) as checkable support
