📖 Lesson A1 Grammar📐 Grammar

🥤 Grammar A1-24: would like / I’d like

The polite half of the A1 syllabus, written for learners of about seven to ten and set in a school-fair café and a birthday party. It teaches would like as the polite twin of want, then the shape that decides everything: a thing comes straight after (I’d like a cake) but a doing word brings to with it (I’d like to swim) — the opposite of can, which the material sets side by side so the two never blur. The short form I’d gets a section of its own, including the trap of writing I like when you mean I’d like. Would you like…? is taught as an offer, with a café dialogue you can tap word by word and the two-word answers that go with it. Practice is spread across four multiple-choice sets, a ten-card sorting task and six sentences to repair, and every single answer explains itself in language simpler than the grammar being taught. Teacher notes give a 45-minute sequence, the two-roads board move, what to do with a stuck learner and the follow-up topics.
