🏛️ Horizon: The Museum Label Project
The crew opens the Museum of Invented Wonders. Each explorer invents an artifact, drafts a formal label built from four passive lines (origin, belief, history, rule), survives Priya’s formality audit — agents deleted, verbs upgraded — and performs a curator talk with surprise visitor questions. The whole passive module goes on display: past simple, distancing, present perfect and modal passives in one production task.
Lesson Plan
- What museum cards say
- Why the maker disappears
- Ten-second artifact invention
Key Vocabulary
Grammar Points
- Past simple passive for origin lines: This mirror was crafted in the twelfth century
- Distancing passive for beliefs: is believed / said / thought + to be (present) or to have been / to have belonged (past)
- Present perfect passive for object history: The handle has been carefully restored
- Modal passives for museum rules: must not be touched, may be photographed, must be switched off
- Formality rises when the agent is removed and the verb is upgraded (found → discovered, made → crafted)
