🙋 Are You Ready?

The second lesson in the Adults A1 grammar series builds directly on Lesson 1's affirmative 'to be'. Students rejoin Anna, Marco, Yuki, Laura and Tom on their first day at a London English school, where their teacher Mr Brown introduces himself and asks each student questions. Through this natural dialogue, learners meet every form they need: negative sentences (I am not / isn't / aren't with both contraction patterns), yes/no questions via subject-verb inversion, short answers (Yes, I am / No, I'm not — including the essential rule that YES answers never use contractions), and six Wh- question words (what, where, who, how, how old, when). The grammar focus is divided into four clearly-labelled mini-boxes (A/B/C/D) to keep cognitive load low. Vocabulary adds 20 A1 state adjectives useful for Q&A (ready, tired, hungry, single, busy, excited, etc.). A 10-question interactive game mixes negatives, questions and Wh- words; a 6-question quiz checks both the dialogue and grammar; an 8-item fill-in-the-blanks exercise forces students to choose between three possible answers per item. The lesson closes with a 6-question partner interview and a written Q&A task.
