📐 IELTS Grammar for Band 7: 12 Structures Examiners Reward
Band 7 in Grammatical Range and Accuracy requires 'a variety of complex structures' and 'frequent error-free sentences'. This lesson presents twelve structures that do exactly that: subordinate clauses, relative clauses, second, third and mixed conditionals, the passive for Task 1, cleft sentences, hedging, participle clauses, inversion, nominalisation, modified comparatives, concession and impersonal reporting. Each has three adaptable example sentences and a note on the most common mistake. A 12-item transformation exercise with a full answer key, an annotated Band-7 paragraph and an essay checklist help you move the structures into your own writing and speaking.
Lesson Plan
- Range and accuracy together
- Choose four or five structures and master them
