📖 Lesson A2 Reading🎉 Fun & Culture

📚 Explorers: Predict & Skim

A fully interactive A2.2 Kids reading-strategy lesson that opens the Reading Club with two explicit, playful powers. Master explorers begin with four warm-up questions, then study a three-box reader toolkit: Power 1 Predict (use the title and pictures to guess, with a clues panel: title, cover picture, first line, big words, names), Power 2 Skim (read fast for the gist in 60 seconds, with a do/don't set and a skim-rules panel: 60 seconds, eyes move fast, big idea not details, no dictionary), and Predict-then-Check (a three-step table: predict → skim → check your guess). Ten key words (predict, title, cover, skim, gist, guess, quickly, picture, headline, topic) appear in a scrollable table with kid-friendly definitions and examples, and six get review flashcards. The reading is a Skim Text, 'The Cave by the Sea', where Team Compass explores a cave in Portugal — students first predict from the title, then skim for the gist — with past-tense storytelling and seven hover-tooltip words. Practice includes eight contextualised fill-in-the-blank questions (predict, title, skim, gist, picture, quickly, cave, torch) with live green/red validation, hints and a running score; a speaking section with five strategy prompts and a five-line model predict-and-skim dialogue between the four explorers; a guided 30–50 word writing task where students predict a real book from its cover with a four-point checklist; and a full eight-question quiz mixing the two strategies and two comprehension questions about the reading, with a progress bar, per-question explanations, a conic-gradient result circle with tiered feedback and localStorage persistence.
