๐ Explorers: How Do You Get There?
A fully interactive A2 Kids lesson that opens the journeys unit: describing transport routines with by + transport and it takes. Students begin with four warm-up questions about their own trips to school, then study the language in three clear blocks: By + Transport (go/come/travel + by bus/car/train/bike with no article, the special case on foot with the never-say-by-foot warning, and negatives), It takesโฆ minutes (it/the journey takes with -s, the question How long does it take? with the no-s-after-does reminder, plus far and near), and Journey Questions (a six-row survey toolkit table: How do you get to school, How long does it take, Is it far, Who do you travel with, What can you see, Do you like your journey). Ten key words (journey, by bus, by car, by train, by bike, on foot, take/takes, minute, far, near) appear in a scrollable table with kid-friendly definitions, and six get review flashcards. The reading is a magazine-style Team File (~220 words): four first-person journey reports โ Zeynep's singing orange bus (20 minutes), Leo's fast bike (10), Mia's walk with her dog (8) and Kofi's one-stop train (15) โ with 8 hover-tooltip words and the target structures in natural context. Practice includes 8 contextualised fill-in-the-blanks (by, on foot, takes/take, far, near, journey) with live green/red validation, hints and a score bar; a Journey Survey speaking section with five interview prompts and a model 4-line dialogue; a guided 25-40 word writing report on the student's real, timed school journey with a four-point checklist and auto-saving word counter; and an 8-question quiz (by + transport, on foot, it takes, the does-it-take question, far/near, plus 2 reading questions) with a progress bar, per-question explanations, a result circle and localStorage persistence.
