📖 Lesson A1 Grammar📐 Grammar

🏠 Grammar A1-21: There is / There are

A picture-describing material for Fleydo learners of about seven to ten, built on the one idea that decides the whole structure: after the word “There”, look at the very next thing — one thing takes “is”, more than one takes “are”. The room does not decide, and neither does everything in it, so “There is a cat and two dogs” is taught explicitly as “the first thing wins”. The pattern strip and a six-row table come first, then eight tap-and-repeat picture cards from a bedroom, a garden and a classroom. Practice is spread across four sets — eight easy gaps, a ten-card sorting task that builds the “one or many?” habit, six items on “There isn’t / There aren’t”, “Is there…? / Are there…?” and short answers, and eight harder items inside real descriptions — followed by a short classroom text with tappable words and six typical errors to repair. Every answer explains itself in words simpler than the grammar being taught. “Some” and “any” appear only as far as A1 needs them: some in yes sentences, any in negatives and questions, with plural things only — uncountables are left to A1-22. Teacher notes give a 45-minute sequence, the simple-room board drawing, the hand-over-the-sentence fix for a stuck learner and the follow-up topics.
