🎁 Grammar A1-17: have got

The A1 material on have got, written for learners of about seven to ten. It builds the structure from the pattern outwards: a picture of the sentence shape, a full table of have got / has got with every short form, and tap-and-repeat cards for each person. Two traps get real teaching time. The first is has for he, she and it — including one person with a name, which is where “Elif have got” comes from. The second gets a whole section of its own: she’s got means she has got, not she is, which collides head-on with the ’s the learner met in A1-1. That section gives them a one-second test — is the next word “got”? — then a tap-to-explain story and a ten-card sorting task that drills it. Negatives (haven’t got, hasn’t got) and questions with their short answers (Yes, I have. — never “Yes, I have got.”) each get a table and six items, and five practice sets in all carry an explanation on every single answer. Teacher notes give a 45-minute sequence, the two-column board move, the ninety-second drill for the ’s clash, and the follow-up topics.
