IELTS Speaking
Do you live in a house or a flat? | What would you change about your home? |
What is your hometown known for? | Has it changed much since you were a child? |
Why did you choose this job or subject? | What do you find most difficult about it? |
What is the busiest part of your day? | Are you good at managing your time? |
How often do you cook at home? | Did you like the same food as a child? |
Which season do you like most? | Does the weather affect your mood? |
What do you mainly use your phone for? | Could you live without the internet for a week? |
Do you prefer meeting friends in a group or one to one? | Who are you closest to in your family? |
Did you play any sports at school? | Is there a hobby you would like to take up? |
How do you usually get to work or university? | Do you prefer travelling alone or with others? |
What kind of music did you listen to growing up? | Do you prefer reading books or watching films? |
Do you enjoy shopping? | Are you a saver or a spender? |
Cue card 1:
Describe a place you visited that you would like to go back to. You should say: where it is; when you went there; what you did there; and explain why you would like to go back.
"The place I'd like to go back to is a small coastal town I visited about three years ago, during a week off between two jobs. I went there almost by accident; a colleague had mentioned it in passing, and I booked a room without really knowing what to expect. What struck me first was how slow everything was. The town is built around a harbour, so most mornings I'd walk down to the water, buy a coffee from the same kiosk and watch the fishing boats come in. There was a path along the cliffs that took about two hours to walk end to end, and I did it almost every day because the view changed completely depending on the weather. I also remember the food vividly; the restaurants served whatever had been caught that morning, which was something I'd never really experienced before. The main reason I want to go back is that I was there for far too short a time. I only scratched the surface, and there were villages further along the coast that I never got to. Beyond that, though, it's the feeling the place gave me. I'd been working flat out for about two years, and that week was the first time in ages that I'd genuinely switched off. So partly I want to see more of it, and partly, if I'm honest, I want to find out whether it still has the same effect on me."
词汇精准而地道("in passing"、"scratched the surface"、"working flat out"、"switched off")。语法多样性体现在过去完成时("I'd been working")、分裂句("What struck me first was...") 连贯性来自推动故事前进的路标词("The main reason..."、"Beyond that, though...")。
Cue card 2:
Describe an important decision you made. You should say: what the decision was; why it was difficult; how you made it; and explain how you feel about it now.
"The decision I want to describe is leaving a secure job to go back to university full time, which I did about four years ago. I'd been working in logistics for a mid-sized company for nearly six years, and although the job was stable and I was reasonably good at it, I'd gradually realised that I didn't want to be doing the same thing at forty. What made it difficult was that there was no obvious push. Nobody was unhappy with me and the pay was fine, so the pressure came entirely from inside, which is much harder to justify to other people. I spent several months weighing it up. I made the classic list of pros and cons, talked it through with my family, and even asked my manager, rather awkwardly, whether a part-time arrangement might work, which it didn't. In the end, what tipped the balance was a fairly simple thought: if I was still turning this over a year later, I'd regret not having tried. So I handed in my notice and enrolled on a two-year programme in data analysis. Looking back, I'd say it was the right call, though not for the reasons I expected. The qualification helped, obviously, but what changed more was my confidence. Having made one big decision deliberately rather than drifting into it, I found the smaller ones afterwards far less intimidating. I wouldn't say I'd recommend it to everyone, but for me it was a turning point."
说话者自然地使用缓和表达("reasonably good"、"I wouldn't say"),运用了虚拟条件句("if I was still... I'd regret")、分词短语("Having made one big decision")和间接引语,并选择了贴合语境的精准词汇("weighing it up"、"tipped the balance"、"handed in my notice")。
IELTS Speaking Part 3
|---|---|---|
| Why do you think some people...? Partly because..., but I suspect the bigger factor is..." |
| How has ... changed compared with the past? | 时间对比 | "People used to..., whereas nowadays..." |
| Do you think ... will change in the future? | 推测 | "is likely to"、"may well"、"I can imagine...",再加一个理由 |
| What are the advantages and disadvantages of ...?
| Is it better to ... or to ...?
| Should governments or schools ...? |
| What role does ... play in people's lives? |
| Do you agree that ...?
| How can people be encouraged to ...?
| What kinds of people tend to ...?
与其背单词表,不如每个话题群学十五到二十个搭配:关于地方,"off the beaten track"、"well connected"、"a bit run-down";关于决定,"weigh up"、"a turning point"、"in hindsight"。
IELTS Speaking
IELTS Speaking
IELTS cue cards?
I haven't thought about this before, but I'd imagine..."。
