📖 Lesson B1 Reading🏠 Everyday Life

🌍 The Fleydo Tribune: Planet & People (Green Edition)

B1 Adults 'Green Edition' (reading-first design): students open a full edition of The Fleydo Tribune and begin immediately with the reading — a real-looking newspaper page with masthead, datelines, bylines, columns, drop caps, and pull quotes — before any other activity. The four stories cover students who cleaned a polluted river, cafes that replaced plastic straws with plant-based ones, a plan to cover city roofs with solar panels, and a town that sends almost nothing to waste, all with target vocabulary highlighted and explained on hover plus a reading tip on environmental word pairs. After reading, learners discuss four reaction questions, study a 12-item vocabulary table grouped by function (protecting & preventing, problems & harm, solutions & change), and explore a six-card phrase toolkit (The project aims to…, As a result…, Experts believe…, One way to help is to…). Six flashcards consolidate the core words, an eight-question gap-fill gives instant feedback with a live score, a five-prompt discussion task encourages use of the phrase toolkit, a guided writing task (90–120 words) invites students to write their own environment story describing a problem and a solution, and an eight-question quiz mixes vocabulary, phrase, and reading-comprehension items with a scored results circle and personalised feedback.
