🧱 Builders: The Builder's Mindset
The opening lesson of the B1.1 Core 72 track and the whole Builders' Studio world. Students first meet the builder mindset: English-mostly talk, mistakes treated as building material, and the running metaphor that words are bricks, grammar rules are beams, and tasks are buildings. Part two is a two-stage toolkit: a culture box (studio rules, goals and habits) and a full A2 tense sweep that reactivates present simple for habits and facts (with third-person -s), present continuous for actions happening now, past simple for finished actions, and 'be going to' for plans, closed by a signal-word panel and a 'Which beam do I need?' reference table. Ten studio words (builder, mindset, goal, habit, level up, brick, beam, scaffold, mistake, progress) appear with full B1 definitions and examples, and six become review flashcards. The reading is a 139-word Team File introducing Aylin, Marco, Priya and Sam, each modelling a different tense in natural context, with seven hover-tooltip words. Practice is eight contextualised fill-in-the-blanks across the tense sweep and studio lexis with live validation, hints and a score. Speaking gives five goal-and-habit prompts plus a model six-line dialogue; the guided 40-70 word writing task is a Builder's Goal card for the family fridge with a four-point checklist and live word counter; and a full eight-question quiz mixes the tense sweep, the mindset and two reading-comprehension questions, with a progress bar, per-question explanations, a conic-gradient result circle and localStorage persistence.
