📖 Builders: Word Families & Building

A fully interactive B1.1 vocabulary lesson for teens that opens the Word Lab module, the course's learning-to-learn engine room. Learners warm up with four questions about growing words, then build a word-building toolkit in three blocks: The Word-Family Tree (root, prefix and suffix, with formula chips and worked examples), The Four Building Tools (a table of -ful = full of, -less = without, -ly = adverb, and un- = the opposite), and Harvesting Families from Texts (a three-step strategy for finding a root and growing its whole family). Ten built words (careful, careless, carefully, helpful, helpless, useful, useless, hopeful, hopeless, unkind) appear in a scrollable glossary with full B1 definitions and examples, and six become review flashcards that also label the tool used. The reading is a 165-word Word Lab story in which the Builders' Studio cast grow family trees from the roots care and help, with eight hover-tooltip words. Practice offers 8 build-the-word items (careful, careless, carefully, helpful, useless, helpless, hopeful, unkind) with live green/red validation, hints and a running score; a speaking section with five family-growing prompts and a six-line model dialogue; a guided 40-70 word writing task (grow your own family tree) with a four-point checklist and a live word counter with auto-save; and a full 8-question multiple-choice quiz with a progress bar, per-question explanations, a conic-gradient result circle with tiered feedback, and localStorage persistence.
