🏃 Grammar B1-18: Comparative and superlative adverbs

The eighteenth material of the Fleydo B1 grammar series, set inside a school athletics squad in county-trial week. It sorts every how-adverb into three families — the -ly family, which never changes its shape and compares with more and the most; the flat adverbs fast, hard, late, early and soon, which take -er and -est exactly like adjectives; and the three gold irregulars well, badly and far, which transform into better, worse and further. A four-question procedure (gold check, -ly check, flat check, job check) is walked through three worked examples, and the compare-and-verdict pair that carries the level draws the adjective-or-adverb line: Skye sings better than me against Skye’s voice is better than mine, then the visible switch of runs more smoothly against a smoother stride. The as … as frame with plain adverbs and the word-order rule — verb and object stay together, the how-word follows — each get their own treatment. Etta’s tappable training diary shows eleven chosen forms in connected prose. Practice runs to thirty-one explained multiple-choice items across four sets, ten adverbs to sort, six reveal cards, six repairs of real B1 errors and four trap boxes, including the hardly-is-not-hard meaning trap. Teacher notes give a 45-minute sequence, the three-column board move, the stuck-learner rescue and Cambridge B1 Preliminary relevance.
