🔟 Little Stars 8: Six to Ten

A complete 45-minute teacher-led lesson that carries the Counting Fun unit of the Little Stars Compact 36 journey from five up to ten. After the fixed Hello Routine with the puppet Pip, the class sings “Ten Little Fingers” in a slow and a faster round, opening one hand at a time. A “Show me!” finger-flash game follows: the teacher calls a number, every child shows that many fingers, and only then does the class ten-frame count and check — the rounds speed up on their own. Two big counting games fill the middle of the lesson: bowling at ten soft pins with the fallen ones counted aloud one by one, and the “Ten in the bed” rhyme acted out with ten teddies that roll out of bed one at a time. The lesson closes with ten slow breaths counted in the circle and the Goodbye Song. Six to ten stays deliberately receptive at this age — showing the right number of fingers is a correct answer, and every number is counted on real objects, never recited into the air.
