📖 Lesson A1 Vocabulary🏠 Everyday Life

🔤 The Alphabet & Spelling: How Do You Spell That?

A fully interactive A1 Teens vocabulary lesson built around a universal, real-world skill — saying and spelling your name in English. Students warm up with four reflection questions, then explore a complete, tappable A–Z alphabet grid that shows each letter's capital and small form plus a simple pronunciation guide (e.g. /ay/, /bee/, /jee/), with the five vowels colour-highlighted. A dedicated focus block teaches the core question "How do you spell...?" and its answer pattern (C – A – T), followed by a tricks table covering "double", "capital letter", and asking someone to repeat. Seven useful classroom phrases are chipped visually for quick recognition. The reading text is a four-part story about Cagri, a Turkish teenager at a new school in England, who learns to spell his name at school, in a coffee shop (where it becomes "Charlie"!), and on the phone — each scene demonstrating spelling vocabulary in natural context. Ten key vocabulary items appear in a horizontally-scrollable table with part of speech, A1-friendly definition, and example sentence, while six of the most important words receive detailed flashcards. Practice includes 8 contextualised fill-in-the-blank questions with hints, live validation, and score tracking; a speaking section with partner spelling prompts and a model dialogue; a guided 40–60 word writing task with a checklist and live word counter; and a full 8-question multiple-choice quiz featuring a progress bar, per-question explanations, a result circle with motivational feedback, and localStorage persistence.
