🛠️ 50 Common IELTS Grammar Mistakes (and How to Fix Them for Band 7)
This free lesson collects the 50 most common IELTS grammar mistakes that keep writing and speaking at band 6, grouped into eight families: articles and countability, subject–verb agreement, tenses in essays and Task 1, prepositions, relative clauses and punctuation, conditionals and modals for hedging, word form, and fragments, run-ons and comma splices. Every mistake comes with the wrong sentence, the corrected sentence, a one-line rule and the criterion it damages. A range-versus-accuracy section explains when a correct simple sentence beats a broken complex one, and an eight-step self-editing routine fits the last three minutes of the test. You then practise with 26 interactive items, correct a 120-word band 6 paragraph containing 12 errors, and finish with a 10-question quiz. It is written for candidates at band 5.5–6.5 who need grammatical range and accuracy at band 7.
