Maria Sebeikina

My birth name is Maria, but everyone calls me May :). I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky person. The people around me would probably describe me as always smiling with a positive outlook on life. Some of my interests include reading, movies & series, crochet, walking my dog, and spending time with my friends, family, and fiancé.

I've been teaching English for over 10 years now. I actually began my journey in 2015 when I travelled to and lived in Russia for 4 years. There I taught English to adults in a classroom and also began teaching privately online. After returning home to South Africa in 2019, I continued working online. I've worked for various companies over the years in China, Japan, Turkey, Israel, and South Korea. I pride myself on providing the best environment for my students, where they walk away from a class feeling fulfilled and like they've learned something new.

My teaching style is student-centered and incorporates technology integration. This means I tailor each lesson to my students' individual goals, interests, and learning pace. I believe in creating a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions, because that's where real learning happens. I also love using technology to make lessons more engaging and interactive—whether that's through digital resources, multimedia content, or online tools that help reinforce what we're learning. My goal is always to make English feel relevant and practical to my students' lives, not just something from a textbook.
